Little Ruckomechi’s scenic location epitomizes Mana Pools National Park in all its abundance. The camp is all about the intimacy of being close to nature and amongst the iconic albida trees that characterize the area. The camp’s location within our private Ruckomechi Concession ensures an exclusive and authentic safari experience complete with a diverse range of activities through which to explore Mana, one of the great wildlife areas of Africa.
Built on wooden decks – offering three (or four for private bookings) – the handsome en-suite tents are airy and elegant, and a delightful reminder of a bygone explorer era. The stylish living spaces include a dining room and lounge as well as a plunge pool all looking out over the great Zambezi River and the Zambian foothills in the distance.
Wildlife is excellent in the area, and Little Ruckomechi offers diverse game-based activities, including wildlife viewing drives in 4x4 vehicles, boats or canoes, and fishing. Daily nature walks are available with a professional guide. Kudu, zebra, impala and waterbuck can be seen on the surrounding plains, and elephants take advantage of the plentiful albida ana trees in the area. Predators including lions, rare wild dogs, leopards, and cheetahs, are often sighted, and large concentrations of buffalo and hippos can be found along the rivers edge. Bird watching tends to be very good, with the river attracting large numbers of waterfowl.
