Gorilla Mountain View Lodge has 30 individual cottages featuring comfortable beds, simple decor and most importantly, beautiful views of the volcanoes. It is located very close (about 15 minutes) from the main headquarters of Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park, so it is a handy base from which to explore the area and organize treks to see the Golden monkeys and, of course, the enigmatic Mountain gorillas, both of whom make the Virunga mountains their home.

Accommodation at the lodge is in spacious stone and thatch chalets, which are spread across the tropical grounds to offer privacy and impressive views. The main communal building features an open-plan lounge and bar area centered around an open fire, which makes a pleasant space in which to socialize with your fellow guests. There’s also a separate dining room with large windows looking out to the volcano, and a wooden deck should you wish to drink and dine al fresco. Traditional African décor and artwork brightens the walls, and the friendly staff provide a good service, even cleaning your boots for you after your treks.

Meals are served in a buffet style at breakfast, lunch and dinner, consisting of home-cooked dishes that have been prepared using fresh produce from the local community. Guests can enjoy meals in the dining room or out on the wooden decking area, with both options offering views of the surrounding mountains.
