This is the oldest and largest camp in Ruaha so if there is a more commercial feeling option, this is it. We enjoy the owner managed element as that makes for excellent Tanzanian hospitality.

Ruaha River Lodge is set in among a large cluster of rocks right on the waters edge on the north bank of the Great Ruaha River. Because the camp has been here so long, the resident game sees the camp as home. Elephant are attracted to the same large riverine trees that make such good shade for the tents, so sitting in your room is often one of the best places to be for close up views of them.
Ruaha River lodge is the only ‘lodge’ in the Ruaha, consisting of 24 stone chalets stretching along the river bank. Each chalet has stunning views from a large veranda out the front, while the huge interiors feature a sitting area, writing desk and either twin or double beds. At the rear of each chalet is a large bathroom decorated with found timber, a shower and double basins.
You will rarely meet any other vehicles on your game drives around Ruahas extensive and well maintained road network. All game drives around the park are taken in open 4 wheel drive vehicles. These vehicles have been designed to ensure maximum visibility for all passengers. The game drives are led by a trained, experienced English speaking guide who will ensure that you get the most out of every safari you make. Many of the guides at Ruaha River Lodge have worked in the Park for years honing their knowledge of the Ruaha Park.
