This is a cute, but rather large lodge, for people looking for a good value option with moderate amenities. Located in Karatu, this lodge is well located to explore both Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro Crater.
The pool is a nice touch for a cool off after a long day in the crater.

Bashay Rift Lodge sits on top of Umbwe Hill amid the fertile valleys of the Karatu District. It is a region of lush coffee farms, where clouds often settle into valleys and offers a refreshing green retreat from the nearby dry plains. The area is a small and intimate, with delicious local food and plenty of outdoor activities in a low-key environment.
The lodge has been designed with an "African farm" aesthetic but with modern comforts. There are a variety of accommodations, including suites, cottages and houses. The amenities in each suite are similar but they group the rooms together from 9 independent suites to houses which have 4 or 6 suites in them with a shared lounge. They are distributed throughout the premises and each offers a unique view, and all are comfortable with a stylish simplicity. Keeping the natural state means that there are myriad animals around, like birds and dik dik. The restaurant serves fresh, delicious food and has a spectacular view of Oldeani Mountain and Lake Eyasi. Soak up the afternoon sun by the eco-friendly pool.
Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area and Lake Manyara are nearby and very worth a visit. Both offer abundant natural beauty and incredible wildlife. For guests with an extra day, a visit to Lake Eyasi is an interesting cultural option.
