Chiefs is all about the game. The lodge experience is more hotel-like in style than Mango loves, but that is a minor point in comparison to enjoying some of the best game viewing in Southern Africa. If one cannot splurge for Mombo, Chiefs does not disappoint.

Located on famous Chief's Island in the Moremi Game Reserve in the heart of the Okavango Delta in Botswana, Chief’s Camp offers personal service, an extraordinary setting, exceptional viewing and enthusiastic expert guides are the hallmarks of a Sanctuary Retreats experience. Here at Sanctuary Chief’s Camp we promise a unique attention to detail and strong environmental and philanthropic credentials to ensure the ultimate luxury safari experience. The 12 guest pavilions feature luxurious poster beds, mosquito nets, spacious seating areas, private viewing decks, indoor/outdoor showers and modern amenities like fans, hair dryers and room safes. Soothing neutral colors adorn the guest areas, creating a relaxing environment that brings the surrounding's natural beauty indoors. The common areas consist of a split-level main viewing deck overlooking the flood plains, an exquisite swimming pool, a bar, curio shop, small library, dining area and lounge.

Our expert guides are always on hand to share their wealth of wknowledge as you explore the Delta in open 4 x 4 vehicles on morning and afternoon game drives. On the plains one may find lions, antelope, zebras, buffalo, wild dogs, leopards, rare rhinos and hyenas. The Delta is a labyrinth of lily-filled lagoons and streams where hippos fight for bathing rights and crocodiles wait for unwary antelope. Float in a wooden mokoro and see a totally different angle. Regardless of what type of adventure you choose, by boat or by land, there will be fantastic wildlife viewing, especially of the Big Five.
