The Cheetah Experience Global Volunteer Program offers volunteers a rewarding way to contribute to conservation in South Africa and make a positive impact every day in the animals' lives. Volunteers will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to work closely with many African species they only dreamed of working with, and will be surrounded by a group of like-minded individuals that share the love and passion for animals. Started in 2011, Cheetah Experience is dedicated to fighting for the future survival of the cheetah by focusing in particular on education and research.

As a volunteer, you will take part in a number of hands-on activities such as: cleaning enclosures and refilling water bowls; preparing and feeding raw food to the animals; helping to educate the public about the importance of conservation; and working as a team to help complete various group activities, like building structures for the animals, maintenance of enclosures and planning/helping provide enrichment activities. The experienced team of staff will be there to support volunteers every step of the way, and strive to give everyone the best possible experience during the stay.

After a busy day of work, volunteers can spend their afternoons at the pool and watching the pool, hanging out with other volunteers in the lounge room, or relaxing in your room within the volunteer accommodations. The volunteer accommodations are self-contained chalets, each with a kitchenette, small lounge, bathroom, patio, and barbecue facility.

Okavango Explorers Camp is a new safari camp located in the southwest of Botswana’s private Selinda Reserve. At the intersection of the upper Okavango Delta water system and the famed Selinda Spillway, the camp’s location is a unique combination of two iconic ecosystems.

The 130,000-hectare Selinda Reserve in northern Botswana is a prime predator and elephant habitat. This new location has been handpicked for its access to some of the highest concentrations of wildlife in the region, along the southernmost section of Selinda Spillway. Lion, leopard and wild dogs hunt these parts regularly. There are good densities of giraffe, buffalo and exciting and now rare antelope like roan, sable and eland. At the peak of the dry season in late September, the Selinda Reserve has been documented to be home to over 9,000 elephants concentrated along this river system. For lovers of elephants, this is the place to be in the dry season. There is phenomenal birdlife in this area for those looking for some ‘lifers’.

The camp sleeps a maximum of 12 guests sharing and recreates a safari experience reminiscent of exploring the unknown African hinterland in a 1920’s style. The camp exudes a spirit of the romance of yesteryear whilst ensuring that adventure and discovery are an essential part of the journey. The safari experiences include wildlife viewing drives, canoeing and walking because Okavango Explorers Camp is in one of the most remote parts of this private reserve.
