A visit to the Makgadikgadi Pans is a completely different and quality experience to the wetland wilderness of Northern Botswana. Jack's has developed a reputation for being one of the most captivating experiences in Africa. Walking with meerkats during dry months and witnessing the annual migration of zebra in the wet season are unique highlights of this area. Don't forget to take a guided walk with the Bushman folks nearby and also take a quad bike out onto the plans
The wet season can be hot and buggy. The dry season cold. Things happen slowly. This place is not for everyone, but it is really special.

Jacks Camp is the vision of the savage beauty of a forgotten Africa and a bygone era of safari elegance. The Makgadikgadi Pans are the remnants of a once great lake. There are ten authentic tents with en-suite bathrooms and indoor and outdoor showers. They have a decadence of 1940's safari elegance, decorated with rich fabrics, European and African art pieces and safari-inspired furniture. The Camp also has a unique national museum, library, pool pavilion and plunge pool. Covered verandas with sunloungers offer spectacular vistas of this unique ecosystem.
A typical visit to Jack's Camp starting with a morning walking with Zu/’hoasi Bushmen trackers, then travel on quad bikes across the pans and watch the sun set and the stars rise. Early in the morning, comb the edge of the extinct lake shore to find some of the many stone tools and fossils that litter the pan surface and learn of the origins of early man. Return to camp for a delicious brunch. After tea, head off in search of some unique desert species such as aardvark, bat eared foxes, aardwolves, and the elusive brown hyena, which is the third rarest large carnivore in Africa, with only about 8,000 in the wild. Go for a walk across the pans with a gang of habituated, but wild, meerkats. For a cultural twist, visit a remote cattle-post to learn about the traditional culture of the Batswana people.
