We love this camp and its staff! Emphasis on wide open landscapes and cultural San Bushman. Good to pair with other camps in the Okavango Delta and Linyanti/Chobe areas. Due to this being a National Reserve, game drive vehicles must stay on the roads - so sometimes the viewing is distant.

Tau Pan Camp, located in the famous Central Kalahari Game Reserve, is set on the edge of the beautiful Tau Pan. The Kalahari Desert is the largest sand basin in the world and stretches some 2500 kilometers. This is a largely flat terrain, interspersed with gentle valleys, sand dunes, and pans. It is a truly unique place to experience with its stark beauty and remoteness.
The camp accommodates up to eighteen guests in nine specially designed thatched chalets on raised decks. The camp offers commanding views from where it sits on the ridge of an ancient sand dune and overlooks the famous Tau Pan. The main area of the camp is completely open on one side and is set around the fireplace, which is an ideal spot for wtaching the wildlife down at the waterhole. The airy, simple and spacious chalets all have a large veranda with deck chairs offering a fabulous place to relax and enjoy the views. Tau Pan is a model of environmental sensitivity. Tau Pan has been constructed with the delicate ecologies in mind. It utilizes only solar power for the generation of electricity, heating of water and pumping of water from deep under the Kalahari sands.
Activities offered at Tau Pan are wildlife drives, day trips to the well-known Deception Valley, Sunday, Piper and Passarge Pans, star gazing, bush brunches on Tau Pan, and nature walks with Bushman trackers. The desert supports a unique array of bidlife and wildlife, such as tortoises, elusive brown hyenas, elephants, lions, leopards and zebras.
