The Kalahari is not for everyone - but if you are interested in desert species, landscapes and bushman, you will love it. During our winter months (December - March), the annual zebra migration makes its way through the green Kalahari, with predators close behind. Few people ever visit this area to see this spectacle, don’t miss it!

Kalahari Plains Camp is a tented camp situated in a remote part of the diverse and productive Central Kalahari Game Reserve. The reserve is the largest conservation area in this country and at 12 million acres, one of the largest in the world. The camp’s star attractions include the legendary Kalahari black-maned lion as well as some of the world's best cheetah viewing.

Kalahari Plains overlooks an immense pan with endless horizons and beautiful skies. It comprises eight en-suite canvas units with a sleep-out platform above each from which to enjoy moonlit or star-studded nights. The main area consists of a lounge and dining area with a pool and deck. Solar power provides all the electricity and hot water in the camp and insulated canvas walls and roofs keep temperatures inside the units comfortable.

The landscape and topography consist of flat grasslands and undulating vegetated dunes teeming with a multitude of antelope species and large predators. This area is characterized by vast open grassy plains, seasonal pans, groves of acacia trees, prehistoric scrub-covered dunes and fossil riverbeds. Guided game drives unlock the fascinating wildlife treasures found in this wonderful area with some of the best cheetah viewing opportunities in Africa. Meet another culture on a guided walk to learn about the fascinating and ancient lifestyle of the San Bushman people.
