The Rutundu log cabins are located on the edge of Lake Rutundu, which is on the northern slopes of Mount Kenya in an area of pure wilderness and breathtaking beauty. These simple but welcoming cabins are the perfect place to escape from the fast pace of modern life and experience nature at close range.
Rutundu has two log cabins that sleep four people comfortably. The main cabin has a sitting and dining room, verandah, kitchen and a large bedroom with a double bed, bunk bed and en-suite bathroom. The smaller cabin is detached from the main building and has a large bedroom with a double bed, two single beds and an en-suite bathroom. Rutundu is self-catering so guests must bring in all food, drinks and firewood and take away all trash at the end. There is also no electricity - all lighting comes from solar lamps.
Rutundu is perfect for fishermen, walkers, families, adventurers and those simply wanting to experience the tranquility of the mountain. Enjoy walking in the fresh mountain air or try your hand at trout fishing on Lake Rutundu or Lake Alice, which are well stocked with rainbow trout. Next to Lake Rutundu is the Kizito/Kathita river gorge, a crystal-clear river with small trout to catch.
