We realy like this property. Alex & Diana Hunter own and operate this little gem. Its hard to get this kind of pedigree of guiding and Kenyan history for such great value. Take advantage while you can. The camp is basic but comfortable. The wildlife concentrations and range of activities in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy are surprisingly good.
~ Mango Opinion
Overlooked by the dramatic snow-capped peaks of Mount Kenya, Ol Pejeta Conservancy is in central Kenya’s Laikipia County. It’s home to the two remaining northern white rhinos on the planet and many other endangered animals, all protected around the clock by dedicated rangers. Ol Pejeta Bush Camp is a traditional bush camp owned-managed by Alex Hunter set on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River within the Conservancy.
The camp has seven traditional, simple and comfortable safari tents with twin or double beds (one is a family tent.) The tents are furnished with re-chargeable solar lights, en-suite bathrooms, flushing toilets, washstands on the tent veranda, and safari bucket showers brought on request, of any preferred temperature by guests at any time of day. The camps chef makes bread daily in the traditional charcoal safari oven, fresh, crisp salads, fabulous meat dishes from the conservancy and delicious vegetarian food in camp, as well as for bush breakfasts and picnics, which are prepared on site.
Activities include guided safari walks, day and night game drives, guided visits to the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, horse riding, cycling, Rhino tracking with Ol Pejeta Rangers, and participation in other conservation and research projects. One example is guest can take part in the tracking lions using radio collars and collecting data.
