Mala Malas location in the Sabi Sands is likely the most game rich terrain in South Africa. The wildlife viewing is beyond stellar. Since the reserve is over 50 years old, animals have grown up in the presence of vehicles and are utterly at ease in front of them. The guiding feels a bit too structured at times, with lots of radio chatter, which can detract from the otherwise lush environment. The Main Camp has recently ben fully redone and is looking beautiful these days.

Mala Mala is located in the game-rich Sabi Sands Reserve, adjacent to Kruger National Park and offers exceptional Big Five game viewing and photographic safaris. Mala Mala Game Reserve is the safari industry’s blueprint for the luxury photographic safari. In existence since 1927, this massive, thriving tract of land offers the most exciting wildlife experience this side of the equator. Guests can enjoy sunrise and sunset game drives or bush walks, accompanied by experienced game rangers and trackers in an area renowned for its exceptional game viewing.
Mala Mala Camp is a haven of understated luxury combining warm comfort and superb service with unrivalled views of the Sand River and surrounding bushveld. The thatched air conditioned bungalows are spacious and have private decks and en-suite bathrooms with a view of the Sand River or a waterhole. Dinner, where one may enjoy venison specialties and haute bush cuisine, is served in the grand old African manner, under the stars in a reed enclosed boma - a Mala Mala tradition for over 60 years. Seated around a log fire, under the starry African sky, enjoying superb food and outstanding South African wines is yet another highlight of the Mala Mala experience.
The lounge leads onto an expansive wooden safari deck in the shade of a Jackalberry tree, overlooking the Sand River. There is also a large filtered infinity pool with magnificent views across the river, room service, complimentary laundry service, wine cellar, bush gym, massage service, bar and safari boutique.
